Getting Started: Palm Sync for Windows Installation Instructions

Palm Sync for Windows System requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows XP or Vista
  • Palm Desktop 4.1 or higher
  • 75 MB of hard disk space
  • 128 MB RAM
  • Kerberos for Windows

Supported devices:

  • A device with Windows Mobile 2003
  • A Palm Device running Palm OS 4.1 to 5.4.x (Palm, Tungsten, Treo, Visor, Zire)
  • Non-Compatible: Windows Mobile 5 or Palm Desktop 6 (in beta for Vista)

Installing Palm Sync for Windows

Note: If a previous version of CorporateSync is installed on the computer, you must uninstall it before installing CorporateSync 3.0.7. If CorporateSync 2.1.1 or lower is installed, you must also uninstall the CSSetup utility from the user's mobile device.

  1. Make sure Palm Desktop 4.1 is installed. If you have an older version of Palm Desktop installed, uninstall the old version before installing version 4.1. You can download Palm Desktop 4.1 from http://www.palmone.com/us/support/downloads/.

  2. Download sundial-palmsync-pc-101.exe to your desktop.

  3. Log on the user's computer as an Administrator with the user's credentials.

  4. Double click sundial-palmsync-pc-101.exe on your desktop to run the installation program. The InstallShield wizard will guide you through the installation process.

    Note: At this point, you may see a dialog box asking you to reboot your computer. Please complete the next step before doing so.

    Note: If you see a message saying that Palm Desktop cannot be found, click Continue. If the Palm Sync does not install, reinstall the Palm Desktop, restart you computer, and then reinstall the Palm Sync.

  5. In the Synchronization Settings screen, enter the following user information:
    • User: your SUNet ID
    • Password: leave this field blank
    • Calendar server: calendar-server.stanford.edu
    • Node ID: 10

  6. Restart your computer.

Post-Installation Steps

Customizing your synchronization preferences for the first time

  1. Right-click the HotSync icon in your task bar.
  2. Select Custom.
  3. Select Date Book and click the Change button.

  4. In the Change HotSync Action screen, select a synchronization option.

  5. Now, click the Settings... button.
  6. Click the + sign next to Date Book
  7. Click Date Range
  8. Pick your date range (eg. 1 Month in the Past, 2 months in the future)
  9. Click OK or Done to close all the HotSync windows
  10. Start your HotSync
